Dementia Australia represents 400,000 Australians living with Dementia and various related diseases to Alzheimer’s. Dementia is now the 2nd leading cause of death in Australia, and about 244 people each day join the dementia population nationwide. Due to the impact of this disease being very local and the cause being very dear to fellow Australia, Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Australia decided to support this cause with the initiation of the 1st MKA Charity Walk.

Walk for Peace was held at the Bait-ul-Huda Mosque in Marsden Park, NSW on Sunday 29th October 2017. The event started at 9am and concluded by 12 pm. By the Grace of Allah, $6500 were raised in total for Dementia Australia. A total of 150 people took part, with 50 volunteers and about 100 participants.

In preparing for the event, fliers of the event were distributed to local neighbourhoods and Sydney Business Park every Sunday morning for one month before the event. An online webpage was also set up: along with a Facebook page:

400 volunteer man hours were spent in preparing for the event, most of which were spent by the Mohtamim and his team learning how to conduct a Charity Walk as we had no experience in this area. A comprehensive 21 team Organisational Committee was also set up.
